Terrific Tanks - Project Upstyle

At the beginning of the year Elsie set about a new weekly project with her readers....project restyle....Tatum had grand plans of getting into it and doing weekly restyles....fact is the last few months have been crazy busy so she didn't get any further than finishing the first....the second restyle is a dress that has been unpicked but hasn't quite made it back together again!

Regardless the first restyle gave us the template for something that will be an ongoing staple item in the Unicycle Design range...Terrific Tanks

Here is Miss J modelling the prototype...a good 10 weeks later it is holding together well and withstands a weekly wash because she wears it everytime it's clean :)

The terrific tanks have been by far our best sellers at markets so far, our stock is a little depleted so we won't have any listed in the store for a fortnight or so.
However, Terrific tanks are something that we offer a custom service on...you send us your T's you want made into tanks for your kidlids and we send them back with a brand new lease on life!  This is a perfect way to bring those 'memory' T's out of hiding...the landlord handed over his precious Pennywise T's for the boy and our sister Sam quickly snaffled a Tank made from an old Blink 182 Tour T when she spotted it!

They are $15 or 2 for $25 and as an opening special we are offering free postage on orders placed before 14th April.

As for project restyle...that dress restyle for Tatum is pretty near the top of the sewing list and we found a gorgeous vintage piece to restyle for Lauren to wear to our next market...can't wait to share those with you in the coming weeks.

The Shop is Open!

We are so excited to announce that our online store is open and ready for business!

Our store is hosted by the lovely folks at Big Cartel and can be accessed easily from the link above.  Payments can be made easily through paypal.  We have done a bit of testing and buying from the store seems pretty easy but if you have any questions or problems don't hesitate to shoot us through an email.  If you are local then we are more than happy to organise pick up, just email to arrange prior to purchasing.

Right now you will find a few things for sale and a few available for custom ordering but we have lots more to finish photographing and upload over the next few days!

For now we'll leave you with a peek at some of the new Unicycle Design listings just uploaded to the store!

Lil modelling a Size 4 Beach Carnival Dress (worn as top over jeans here, she is a size 7 really).

Miss J modelling a size 2-3, white Bubble T dress.  Imagine this one with long sleeves under, jacket on top and all cozied up with tights and ballet flats for winter!  We also have bubble skirts made from the same fabric that will be available in the shop soon.

Last off we have the little man showing off a pair of Army Man pants.  These slim fitting 3/4 pants have been made using manufacturing offcuts of medium weight camouflage fabric.  The feature side patch pockets with velcro closure and a dangling army man to accompany your little dude on all his adventures!

If you have something in mind that you might like us to stitch for you don't forget we do welcome custom orders of all sorts!

Have a fabulous weekend, we're off to high tea tomorrow to celebrate Tatum's birthday.

Li'l Quake Appeal

On the 22nd of February Christchurch, New Zealand was hit by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake. Leaving chaos, devistation and destruction in its wake 100's of people have been hurt and effected and are in need of help to get back on their feet.
Maddie, a Christchurch based blogger at Li'l Magoolie has put together a fundrasier to help 'mend a broken city'.

Unicycle Design has donated a bubble skirt and organic tank top to the Li'l Quake Appeal and as a added bonus, if you have the winning bid on the skirt and follow our blog we will include one of our upcycled leather headbands!
There are lots of gorgeous, funky products in the auction, so take a moment and have a look because all the money raised is going to a very worthy cause!

Finally just a quick reminder there is just ONE week left in our $50 gift voucher giveaway- visit us on facebook and join in the fun :)

Have a brilliant weekend,

Fabrication

I know that a few of you have found our fabrication brand on facebook and you would have seen the logo here at Green Dandelion so we decided it was probably time to introduce it properly.

After 'discovering' Unicycle Design we quickly realised that our ideas extended into clothing that would be made from all new materials.  We didn't want to compromise what Unicycle is all about so we knew we would need a second brand...with this realisation we also knew we would need to work under an all encompassing umbrella.

After several days of throwing names around we decided on Green Dandelion as our business name and, naturally, our 'all new' brand would be Dandelion Design.  However, after some reflection time we didn't think tat Dandelion Design would suit everything we wanted to do with the brand.  To be honest, I can't even remember what made us think of fabrication...we thought it sounded edgy and it's literal meaning 'the act of making something' just seemed to work.  The idea for the logo came from a washing instruction tag, we thought it would be cool to trade the washing machine and iron for clothing 'icons' and Danielle has done a fabulous job of turning my scribble on paper into something we just love (just like all our logos and web design!).

We can't wait to start introducing our fabrication line to you over the coming months.  Like everything sold at Green Dandelion it will be ethically produced and over time we hope to introduce more and more organic materials.  Fabrication will aim to produce garments for all ages, stages and sizes and like Unicycle we will definitely welcome custom orders!

Hope that you are having a fantastic week!

To Market To Market - Roxby Downs

As well as our online store (which we should have up and running by the end of the week...fingers crossed) we will regularly taking Green Dandelion to market.
On Saturday I was joined by Sam with Verri Charmed at the monthly Roxby Downs market.

Despite the rain it was great to see so many people out and about and in such a jolly frame of mind and with so many lovely things to say.  Having lived in Roxby for 3 1/2 years now one of the things I have noticed at recent markets is the emergence of some really cool local stores...Sustainababy is the brainchild of a local mum and it is a truly awesome business, it embraces so much of what we feel is important here at Green Dandelion....Precious Junk has so many great handmade items and I am totally in love with the work of A Girl Called Mike, completely makes me want to run out and get the big girls ears pierced and there are some little cuties there that I would love for myself...love finding new things to love :)

One of the best things about taking our business to market is getting the opportunity to meet people, say hello and have a chat...we love it when people ooh & ahh and just seeing someone smile at something we have made makes us smile too!
Lauren and Jess will be taking Green Dandelion to market next, the Gilles Street Market in Adelaide on Sunday 17th April from 10am-4pm....lots of stitching and new wintery things to be made in the next four weeks!

For now I'll leave you with a few photos from market and remind you about our $50 voucher (valid for 12 months) that we will be giving away to one of our facebook likers at the end of the month.  For extra entries refer your friends and get them to say hello on our wall letting us know you sent them!

Tatum amongst the dresses on the rack, taken by the journalist from the local paper, lol.
 Lots of pretty dresses!
Lots of headbands, Mad Hatter's tea sets and a glimpse at the twirly skirts.
Bubble Skirts and Twirly skirts and a peek at our new Unicycle Army Man Pants <3
Library bags, Headbands and the Mad Hatter's Tea Sets.
And last but not least, our beautiful helper on the day...Lilli.
Thanks for visiting!

Open for Business

Welcome to Green Dandelion!!

We are so excited to bring you our new collaboration, showcasing, creating and selling the things we love.
Green Dandelion grew from a necessity to house the creative ideas of Unicycle Design and Fabrication. We wanted a store front which predominately sold green, organic, fair-trade products, things that have been created with love and the world in mind.

Initially Green Dandelion will stock mostly clothes for girls (2-12), accessories and homewares for all, but we plan on branching quickly to include clothes for boys, teens and grownups…so if we don’t have something for you right now you can be sure that we will in the future!

The Green Dandelion store will be open and stocked with all our goodies after the Roxby Downs market on the weekend.

We can’t wait to share this adventure with you, hopefully bringing you some inspiration and a bit of retail therapy along the way.
