Feature Spotlight *Farrah*
We love creating new things and one of the latest has been these gorgeous retro styled girls shirts 'Farrah'.
We have adapted the shirts from a vintage Butterick pattern, making some small additions to the yoke and lining to create a super comfy, fun to play in shirt.
These shirts will be in the Green Dandelion store in a range of fabrics shortly.
Happy Tuesday,
xx Lauren

Inspired Sunday *Lauren*
Hi!
Hope you've been having a lovely weekend and staying nice and warm!! How cold has it gotten! I've spent the parts of this weekend that I haven't been working rugged up, under the heater trying to stay warm.
Today I want to share with you this gorgeous print I found on Etsy from vol25.
One of my main motivations for wanting to include 'dandelion' in the Green Dandelion branding was because I love blowing dandelion flowers and making wishes, not just as a child but now too! We have lots of wishes for Green Dandelion, the biggest one is of course to be successful but also to continue loving everything we do and more importantly create.
The Vol25 print is a perfect reflection on my thoughts and I think I will need to purchase it soon to hang on my wall...over our sewing machine perhaps :)
Whats been inspiring you this weekend??
xx Lauren

Introducing - 'Happy' Shirts
Introducing our newest product to the Unicycle Design range, one for the gorgeous little men in your life!
‘Happy’ Shirts
This shirt is lightweight and ‘super comfy’ as Sebastian says… He didn’t want to take it off when Tatum first got him to try it on. Perfect for everyday play and to brighten your day!
The fabric for this beauty was found in the Andamooka op shop, one look and you can see where the name for the shirts originates from. The retro print reminds us ever so much of ‘Happy Pants’ and the print is exactly that ‘Happy’, bright and just makes you smile.
‘Happy’ Shirts are available in sizes – 12months, 2, 3-4 and 5-6
Available NOW in the Green Dandelion Shop
**The shirt will also be available in a fabric by Anthology in an eye-catching lime green.
Have a Fabulous Weekend!
xx Jess

Playtime Stripe Dress **Tutorial**
I am currently taking part in the Elsie Marley Kids Clothes Week Challenge and just wanted to share a quick tutorial on how I created this easy to sew, comfy to wear dress. It might be heading into winter here in Australia but this dress will still work perfectly with a long sleeve shirt underneath (or even start with a long sleeve top instead of a singlet) topped off with a denim jacket.
Start with your new singlet (mine are organic cotton) and work out where you want the bodice to sit by measuring against your child. You may want to choose a higher waistline like I have but you could choose anywhere from A-Line to drop waisted depending on the finished look you want.
Using a ruler cut off the bottom of your singlet, leaving a 1/2" seam allowance.
Measure and take note of the (unstretched) width across the bottom of your bodice. We will call this measurement A.
Next decide where you want the hem of the skirt to sit and measure the distance from the planned waistline of the dress to the hem.
Use this measurement to figure out your sections. For my skirts the top tier is about 2/3 of the total measurement and the bottom two tiers make up the remaining third.
For example, your finished skirt will be 21"
make the top tier 14"
middle tier 4" and
bottom tier 3"
NB: For cutting you will need to add your preferred seam allowances, because I am overlocking I add 1" to the finished width of each strip.
Once you have decided on your tier widths write out your cutting plan.
For your top tier cut 2 rectangles of your desired width + seam allowance and length = 2xA + 5"
For your second tier cut 2 strips of your desired width + seam allowance and length = 2xA + 9"
For the bottom tier cut 2 strips of your desired width + seam allowance and length 2xA + 13"
If you would like your dress to be 'frillier' at the bottom feel free to add extra length to your strips for the bottom tier.
With right sides together join the sides of each tier strip together to create three circles .
Using your longest stitch length run a gathering stitch approximately 1/4" from the top edge of each tier
Gather and pin the top tier to the bottom of your bodice.
Gather and pin the bottom tier to the middle tier
Sew your pinned pieces together. I have a 4 thread overlocker (serger) so I ran each piece through. If you don't have one join the pieces together using a straight stitch then finish the edges with a zigzag stitch.
Once you have stitched these sections together gather and pin the middle tier to the top tier.
Sew the tiers together.
Finally hem your dress and topstitch each of the tiers.
I have topstiched by ironing the seams toward the non-gathered fabric and stitching.
Happy days!
Hope that you enjoyed the very first Green Dandelion tutorial...make sure to leave us a link when you give this a go, we would love to see your finished product! please dont hesitate to ask me any questions.
For those who would rather just buy a dress, the playtime stripe dress will be coming to the store very soon!

Hello...
**This was meant to post Monday but blogger wasn't playing nice**
Hi!
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend and the mum’s utterly spoilt! We’ve been a bit disorientated here in the Green Dandelion Adelaide house with Tatum off exploring America for 6 weeks, its taking a bit of getting used to not talking on the phone 3 times a day and having no one to boss us about!! So picking ourselves off the floor we are finally organised and ready to blog! We have lots of plans and things to share beginning with a very cool tutorial tomorrow and many fabulous Green Dandelion things over the coming weeks.
Today I just wanted to quickly share with you these wonderful pictures I found on pinterest (my favourite place in the world).
Gold, sparkly, full of warmth these gorgeous dresses warm me up and inspire me on this freezing cold day…did anyone else think it was so much colder today?? We have a yellow gold striped curtain sitting on the shelf that I’m thinking will be turned into something winter worthy very soon!
Back soon,
Xx Lauren and Jess

SourceMy favourite place to be on a wet winters day would be rugged up next to the fire. I love the white contrast with the warm patterns in the floor rug. Looks like a cosy place to spend the afternoon sewing!

A must for winter = Peter Alexander Home boots (uggies!!)
these are new season and that feature bow is totally cute and girly!

Another must accessory for winter is scarves! A scarf can give your outfit a completely different look while giving you some extra warmth!! Loving the soft pastel colours in this beautiful scarf from Anthropologie.
